The External Coil Reactor, also known as a Half-Pipe Jacketed Reactor, is a high-efficiency reaction vessel widely utilized in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries. By welding semi-circular pipes onto the exterior of the main vessel, this design offers superior thermal performance and structural integrity compared to traditional full-jacketed reactors.

The external coil design involves wrapping a semi-circular pipe around the outer wall of the reactor body. Heating or cooling media (such as steam, thermal oil, or water) circulate through these coils. The spiral flow path forces the medium into a state of high-velocity turbulence, which significantly enhances the heat transfer coefficient.
