A plate and frame filter press is basically a machine that separates solids from liquids. It’s made up of a bunch of filter plates and frames arranged alternately, with filter cloth sandwiched in between.It is widely used in wastewater treatment, chemical industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, mining, and other sectors.
The key components of a plate and frame filter press are the filter plates and the filter frames. These elements are arranged alternately to form a series of chambers for the slurry (a mixture of solid and liquid) to pass through. The filter plates are typically made of polypropylene or stainless steel, while the frames can be made from various materials such as plastic or metal.
A plate and frame filter press how it works: you pump the solid-liquid mixture into the spaces between the plates and frames. The liquid passes through the filter cloth and flows out, while the solids get trapped on the cloth, building up what’s called a filter cake. Once the process is done, you just take the cake out.
